Octane Finance-backed Harry King ends with a double at Brands Hatch
Octane Finance-backed racer Harry King secured two further victories to end an astonishing 2020 Porsche Carrera Cup GB campaign on a high at Brands Hatch.
The talented teenager wrapped up the championship title in the previous event at Snetterton, with his Team Parker Racing-run car featuring a revised livery with gold Octane branding to celebrate the achievement for the season finale.
Harry, the current Porsche GB Junior driver, qualified second on the grid around the short Brands Hatch Indy circuit, missing out on pole by just 0.002s.
Astonishingly, that was the first - and only - time this season that Harry missed out on qualifying at the head of the field, but still left him in the ideal position going into the opening race.
The rain had been a factor throughout Saturday, and fading light was also added into the mix for the opening race of the weekend later that day - with Harry wasting little time in jumping into the lead on the opening lap.
Harry looked to be en route to another dominant win before the safety car was deployed and backed up the field behind, with Harry then coming under huge pressure from Matty Graham and Scott McKenna for the win.
The champion would keep the pair at bay until they clashed on the final lap, leaving Harry to sail on to victory.
The second race on Sunday would see Harry line up in fifth thanks to the reverse grid, but the Octane Finance car was soon out front as the teenager charged through the pack and he controlled the race from the front to secure yet another win.
The double win means Harry ends his first season in Porsche racing with an amazing record of twelve victories from 16 starts - a win record of 75%.
"The only thing that is slightly disappointing this weekend is not completing a clean-sweep of pole positions but I’m not going to get too upset over it given the season we have had," he said.
"Taking another two wins is fantastic and a great way to end what has easily been the best season of my career so far. Team Parker Racing has given me an amazing car and we have been dominant from the start; the only time we haven’t been on the podium is when we had some issues that were outside our control.
"I have to thank Porsche for selecting me as the Junior Driver for both this year and next year, as well as Octane Finance and all my sponsors for their backing - and of course all of my friends and family for their ongoing support.
"We’ll see what happens now over the winter and decide where I’ll be racing next season. I know where I would like that to be but it’ll be in a Porsche Carrera Cup car regardless, which is never a bad thing."
